Car Seat Safety
Infant and Toddlers under 2 y.o. | Rear facing only infant car seat or convertible car seat but needs to meet weight requirements |
Toddlers and Preschoolers | Forward facing if older than 2 years old and have reached highest weight and height requirements for rear facing car seats. Many seats with harnesses can accommodate children up to 65 lbs. |
School aged children | Once children exceed the highest weight and height for forward facing harness seats they can move to a belt positioning booster seat. |
Helpful hints for rear facing car seats:
1.Harness should be placed in slot just below the shoulders
2.Once child is secured caregiver should not be able to pinch belt
3.Chest clip should be placed in center of chest, at armpit level
Helpful hints for forward facing car seats:
1.Move should harness straps to slot at or slightly above shoulders
2.You may adjust the recline on the seat. Be sure to review instructions for each seat to be sure.
3.Always use tether when you can.
