On Friday August 20th, I was able to get a tour of the new Children's section at the Greece Public Library. They expanded the children's area to over 10,000 feet and they have created a space that is not only an enriched learning environment but also a place for explorative play and creation! From the high ceilings and open to windows to the fairy garden and iPad station, this newly renovated area includes everything for a child to explore and grow their love for reading and print!
The new expansion offers so much for children:
- Cozy reading cubbies set up in different places to offer individual reading areas
- A fairy garden area with a tree that lights up and plays music as the kids interact with the balls sending them down from the top of the tree or up from the bottom!
- A castle, a play kitchen area complete with a garden bed, a wooden doll house and a shopping center with cash register and play food!
- Magnetic boards with letters, shapes, and gears.
- A light up peg board and an interactive table with magnetic shapes to create with
- A story and craft room
- A bathroom not only for adults but created with toddlers in mind as they have a toddler toilet and lower sink! (Also a baby changing station and toddler chair)
- A homeschooling bag area
- A section of books about your favorite character friends (Clifford, Pete the Cat, Peppa Pig...)
- Sections for board books, easy readers, pictures books and more throughout the large open space.
- An Information Desk staffed with kind, caring and willing to help library staff.
- Weekly story times and events ran by the Librarians
- A self check out right in the kids area at the Information Desk to make checking out books a little more fun and independent!
- A beautiful mural of a butterfly to help you and your family spread your wings and become a reader!
The experience was wonderful and my kids have asked to go back multiple times!
