Take a Mini-Vacation and Enjoy 2-3 Hours of Fun Repeatable Play

By Leah Levine, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Greece November 29, 2017

Going on family vacations is never something my family has done. It is just not who we are, we prefer the occasional overnight stays. My 7 year old has become a very busy You-Tube watcher and learned about the new LEGOLAND. Taking our family of 6 to Florida is just not doable right now, but when I learned about the new LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, I was excited to share with the kids that we would be spending a day visiting an awesome, totally fun place!

So we loaded up the van with 3 young ladies, 2 one- year- olds, myself and my sister-in- law and we headed with a packed cooler and full tank of gas on the 5.5 hour trip to Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. What a cute little town! Our hotel was only 5 minutes away from the Mall where LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia is located.

Monday morning the girls woke up overly excited about what they were going experience!  As we pulled into our parking spot the first thing we noticed was a Giraffe made from LEGO Bricks!   We then posed for some pictures with the sign outside and entered the mall at the nearest location to the Discovery Center. There, the kids waited patiently as we had a very simple and easy check in. We were able to purchase activity books for just $5 each to be sure we visited each attraction and had a special lanyard full of great memories to take home with us!  Upon entering we posed for a professional picture with awesome LEGO DUPLO characters in the background. Just one of two options of professional images available for purchase at the Discover Center.

Then the girls went to town in what they called "a world of LEGO Bricks"!  They did not know where to begin... the activity center, the car building, the LEGO DUPLO Friends…so much to experience, all in one great place.

We spent 6 hours exploring the fun and even had lunch there!  Did you know you could bring home the perfect accessory just by buying the kids meal!
Enjoy a LEGO Brick lunch box with every kids meal purchase!

Ask my 7 year old what her favorite part was and she will tell you the 4-D movie, ask my 6 year old and she will say the LEGO DUPLO Friends and ask my 1 year old, well she loved the bubbles in the kiddie play area! My niece enjoyed the make it workshop where we made a fish from a set of LEGO bricks following the directions of an instructor.

As a parent, the best part was that there was so much to do that keep them busy and exploring that they never said they were bored. If they wanted to eat- there was a cafe right there! If they wanted to make something, there were numerous opportunities for that! If they needed to relax, they found a soft bench, pulled up a chair at the cafe, or took a break and enjoyed a movie in the comfy chairs in the 4-D movie theater!

Once you are done playing in the center you exit into the LEGO Store- an awesome opportunity for any LEGO brick lover to see.  There were many choices for all different ages! We made our purchases and proudly played with them the rest of the day and the entire trip home the next day!  (Bring a tray to keep the LEGO bricks on their lap in the car).

I am happy to say that all 7 of us had so much fun and really enjoyed the time spent at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia! My kids are already asking me when we can go back!
